There is some good news in today's report. The scientists point out that the costs of many key, low-carbon technologies: solar power, wind turbines, and batteries have fallen dramatically in just the last decade.

今日發(fā)布的這份報告中有一些好 消息：科學家們在報告中指出，太陽能、風力發(fā)電機和電池等許多關鍵低碳技術的成本在過去十年中大幅下降。

And they say, we can all take action on climate: eating a bit less meat, and walking and cycling a bit more will cut our emissions and make us healthier, they say.

科學家們表示，我們每個人都可以采取行動幫助應對氣候問題。比如，少吃一點肉、多走路、騎自行車可以減少溫室氣體排放，同時也有益健康。

But for many observers, the really worrying aspect of today's report is the reliance it places on new technologies to suck carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. The scientists say these will be needed to keep temperatures down in virtually all the scenarios they looked at.

但對許多觀察家來說，這份報告中提出的一個應對氣候變化的方法著實令人擔憂，即依賴新技術吸除大氣中的二氧化碳。科學家們表示，在他們研究的、幾乎所有可能發(fā)生的情況下，都需要這些新技術來控制氣溫的升幅。

The problem is these technologies are at a very early stage of development and are still very expensive. Given the urgency of the challenge the report says we face, that is not encouraging.
